A fire in Providence forced 9 people from their home Friday morning.

Flames broke out just after 9:30 inside a Laban Street home. Officials say the fire started on the first floor and quickly spread to the second and third floors, then into the attic.

The flames and smoke got to be so bad that firefighters were ordered out of the building.

A family of six was sleeping on the first floor when a child woke up screaming for help. Her mother says she grabbed what she could, but lost a lot of memories in the fire.

Everyone did get out of the home safely. Officials say the fire does not appear suspicious but are still determining an exact cause.
