The chief of staff to former House Speaker Gordon Fox has resigned.

Frank J. Anzeveno, Jr. resigned on Monday stating, he has known for a while that Fox would not seek re-election and as a result he made the decision to retire in June. However he noted he will be departing sooner as a result of the recent law enforcement raid on Fox's State House office.

"In light of recent events at the Statehouse, time has accelerated. I cleaned out my office over the weekend in anticipation that a new Speaker needs to bring in his own staff," said Anzeveno.

Anzeveno has served as the chief of staff to three past House Speakers; John Harwood, Bill Murphy, and Gordon Fox. Prior to that Anzeveno served as a State Representative from North Providence.

Fox resigned as speaker on Saturday following a raid of his State House office and home by the FBI, IRS, State Police, and the U.S. Attorney's Office. Fox will finish out his term and will not seek re-election.
