PAWTUCKET - A home–video shows the ultimate surprise Christmas present... two parents come to their porch to find a large gift box.

Inside... their daughter, who lives in the Midwest, and hasn't been home in over a year.

"Huge surprise! We had no idea!" said mom Maureen Maher.

"You could have knocked me over with a feather, honest to god!" said dad Michael Maher.

The idea for the surprise came from their daughter Emily, who hasn't been home to see her parents since last Thanksgiving.

And helping to execute the surprise, her brother Brian, who kept the secret of her homecoming for 4 months.

"At the end of the day, there were many times when I almost spilled the beans but I know Emily would not have been pleased with me if I did that!" said Brian Maher.

Mom Maureen wasn't planning on seeing her daughter until Mothers Day. And dad Michael, who spends the holidays as a Santa for hire, thought he had Christmas all figured out.

"I was kind of committed to it though, I knew that she wasn't going to be here, I was reconciled to the whole situation," he said.

But in the end the kids managed to give a gift even Santa couldn't deliver.

"Just... probably going to be one of the best Christmases ever," said Maureen.

"It was a really nice gift," said Michael.
