Racist graffiti against Iranians spray painted on the side of a Johnston business. Now, one woman is taking on the city to get it removed.
We can't show you what the words exactly say on this building on Putnam Pike because of the language, but it does target those from Iran.
Arvis Davarpanah says she noticed the graffiti on the side of the 59 plaza building last year. She was disgusted to see it because she's from Iran, but she was even more surprised and when she noticed it still there. She contacted Johnston's building inspector and never heard back.
Police say since she wasn't targeted it's not a hate crime and it's up to the buildings owner to remove it. The building's owner says he's tried to remove it, but it won't come out.
Arvis says she's hiring a lawyer.
