A New Bedford man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after a home invasion in Fairhaven earlier in the day.

Fairhaven Police have charged Horace Blake, 26, from New Bedford with assault and battery, armed robbery and home invasion while armed with a firearm.

Police responded to 21 Bridge Street Tuesday morning after receiving a call from a resident at that location that someone had just broken into their apartment. The victim said an unknown male forced his way into the apartment on Bridge Street, told the occupants he had a gun and warned them not to make him pull it out.

With his hand concealed under a sweatshirt the entire time, the man, later identified as Blake, grabbed a laptop computer and fled the apartment.

Blake was taken into custody later that afternoon by members of the New Bedford Police Department's Gang Unit. He was apparently looking for a person who formerly resided at that address and police believe the act was not random.

Blake was arraigned early Wednesday morning.
