An investigation conducted by the Rhode Island Department of Health determined that the New England Ambulance Company has been operating some of its ambulances without a proper heating system.
According to the Department of Health an employee of the company admitted that some of its ambulances do not have heat or have a broken heating unit.
All Rhode Island ambulances are required to have heating system for a number of reasons including patient conditions.
The New England Ambulance Company cannot operate any of the defective ambulances until they are fixed and they must pay a $100 dollar fine per day until all of the company's ambulances are up to par. Other ambulances run by the company are still in operation.
