Providence, R.I. – Led by junior Sophie Bikofsky's career-high 28 points, the Brown women's basketball team outlasted in-state rival, Rhode Island, 66-56 at the Pizzitola Sports Center on Wednesday night. The Bears improve to 4-3 on the season after winning their second-consecutive contest while the Rams drop to 1-7 in 2013-14.
Entering the game ranked third in the nation in three-point field goal percentage, Sophie Bikofsky (Newton, Mass.) improved on her torrid start, connecting on 7-of-11 attempts from behind the arc to tie the school record for treys made in a game.
Co-captain Lauren Clarke (Colts Neck, N.J.) also scored in double figures as she recorded 16 points on 3-of-10 shooting from field and 7-of-8 from the charity stripe.

After shooting over 50% from the field against UMBC last Saturday, the Bears struggled in the early going, connecting on just 9-of-34 attempts from field in the first half. Brown clawed its way to a 24-22 lead late in the half before a 7-0 Rams run propelled them to a five-point halftime lead.
Despite shooting 31.7% from the field in the game, the Bears rallied in the second half to outscore the Rams by a 42-27 margin. Propelled by Bikofsky's 19 second half points, the Bears were able to grab the lead for good at the 13:21 mark. Crucial free throws by Clarke, Bikofsky, and Alexander salted the game away in the final moments as the Bears held Rhode Island to just one field goal in the final 4:31.
Samantha Tabakman (12 points) and Tati Johnson (10 points) led the way for the Rams as they shot 38.5% from the field on Wednesday night.
