Those popular food trucks in Kennedy Plaza were just part of the plan to upgrade and repair the downtown area.
The Downtown Providence Parks Conservancy is hoping to rejuvenate the area and upgrade it as part of ‘Greater Kennedy Plaza' – much like Central Park and Bryant Park in New York City.
The Providence Preservation Society along with the Conservancy and other officials met Thursday night with former NYC parks commissioner Adrian Benepe at the Superman building downtown to discuss the importance of an attractive and bustling park.
You can expect to see construction start this spring; that includes moving parts of the bus terminal so that the routes don't cut into the middle of the park and adding children's programs to the Park.
The Conservancy hopes to bring aesthetic, cultural, and economical value to the city through this project.
