Rabid fox on the loose in East Greenwich

A rabid fox is still on the loose in East Greenwich; officials are urging local residents to stay inside their homes and to keep their pets inside while they search the area.

The East Greenwich Police department is currently searching the areas of:

Frenchtown Road

High Hawk Road

Tillinghast Road

Two Individuals were bitten Thursday afternoon between noon and at about 4pm.

The last confirmed sighting was around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, but the fox was allegedly sighted again around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday evening. Police say the fox was bitten by a dog and shaken twice. It is unclear if the fox is still alive or not but police are urging people to be cautious.

French Town Park  has been closed to the public until further notice and parents, teachers, and student at the nearby Frenchtown Elementary school were warned of the danger.
