WOONSOCKET - A textile mill in Woonsocket is doing its part to help relief efforts in the Philippines by making emergency blankets to be shipped overseas.

Northwest Wollen Mills currently has 30,000wool, flame retardant blankets ready to be sent to the hardest–hit areas devastated by Typhoon Hiyan.

And workers are ready at the drop of a hat to make more, if necessary.

"We have staff that is very happy to stay and work overtime to get the blankets out, for example last year during super storm Sandy we shipped out about 150 thousand blankets in about 2 days time," said Paulette Butler, Director of Sales at Northwest Woolen Mills.

The blankets will be given out through various government organizations, as well as nonprofit groups.

The mill has been open since the 1960's.
