BRISTOL, RI- From war on our own turf to wars in other nations, we celebrate all who have dedicated their lives to make America truly free.

"I joined as soon, the next morning after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor," said, Navy Veteran, Earnest Saint-Jean.

Veteran, Jim Medeiros said, "We're here. We remember you. We thank you. We can't thank you enough."

Outside of the Rhode Island Veterans Home, a symbol of remembrance: A wreath.

"My job was to make sure that the bomb hit the target we selected," said Veteran, Steve Skuba.

For those able to stand today, they consider themselves lucky.

Skuba said, "We just did what we had to do. We were well trained and I was fortunate enough to get there and get back. I had a lot of friends who didn't make it."

If you know a veteran, many say they're glad to serve their country but wish it wasn't necessary.

"I was glad when the war was over. I hope it never happens again, cause it's no fun," said Saint-Jean.

It's understood; Veterans made a difference then, and continue to do so today.
