Winning CMA song about local fallen soldier

Lee Brice's "I Drive Your Truck" won song of the year at last night's country music awards.

The song was inspired by a local father who lost his son in Afghanistan.

The song is a story about a man losing his brother in the war. He drives his truck to be close to him, but the real story is based out of Raynham...

Paul Monti's 30–year–old son Jared was killed in 2006 in Afghanistan while trying to save the life of a fellow soldier. Every day since, Paul has been behind the wheel of his son's black pick up truck. "When I'm in there and close up the windows it's like him and I are doing the things that we should have been able to do in the future together, " says Monti.

And that struck a cord with a songwriter from Nashville who heard Paul on the radio a few years ago talking about his son's truck. "Heard me say I drive his truck and she started writing things down and penning the song, " says Monti.

The song soon became a hit. Lee Brice recorded it and Wednesday night, it took home the song of the year at the country music awards.
