BOSTON (AP) A Massachusetts state police photographer who leaked dramatic photos of the captured and bloodied Boston Marathon bombings suspect has retired days after he was disciplined for his actions.

Sgt. Sean Murphy released photos of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to Boston Magazine.

Murphy had said he was hoping to counter a Rolling Stone cover shot of Tsarnaev he said glamorized the suspect.

The magazine reported his retirement Tuesday. State police spokesman David Procopio says Murphy retired Nov. 1, days after internal charges against him were upheld.

Those included unauthorized dissemination of information, insubordination, unsatisfactory performance and violation of departmental rules and regulation.

Murphy's attorney says his client ``decided to move on'' after 25 years with the force.

Three were killed and more than 260 wounded in the bombings. Tsarnaev has pleaded not guilty.
