Students at Coventry High School took a pledge on Thursday not to text when behind the wheel.

Attorney General Peter Kilmartin and Coventry Police Chief Bryan Volpe along with representatives from the Rhode Island Department of Transportation, AT&T and Rhode Island State Police made the stop in Coventry as part of the "Txting & Driving… It Can Wait" campaign.

Nearly 400 seniors took the pledge to not text and drive and they saw first hand the effects of texting and driving when Coventry High School Principal Michael Hobin demonstrated a texting and driving simulator.
