A battle over a Halloween display is brewing in Woonsocket. The city told the owners they had to shut it down, but the couple who built the elaborate haunted house is refusing.

The 'haunted' display is built in the Densmore's Blackstone street yard. The couple has run the attraction—called "fear for food"—for 4 years now. They collect canned goods as an entrance fee, which they later donate to an area food pantry.

Earlier this week the city notified them they had 24 hours to shut down, citing a complaint. The letter says the display is dangerous and not up to code. The Densmore's say they have made every attempt to meet the cities demands, and decided to remain open.

"Who ever is complaining, you're not hurting us. You're hurting everybody. Everybody who comes here and enjoys a small piece of Halloween. That's all they are doing. They are hurting them," said Dave Densmore.

The Densmore's were notified last night that the city of Woonsocket will now being taking legal action to shut down the Halloween display.
