The Massachusetts chemist accused of tampering with evidence in thousands of criminal cases across the state could get a lighter sentence than hoped for by the state.
A Massachusetts judge says she won't impose a sentence of more than 5–years if Annie Dookhan pleads guilty.
Prosecutors want her to go to jail for at least seven years.
The judge says Dookhan has no prior record and has a disabled child to care for.
