Rhode Island's governor will be updating the public on his efforts to appoint more women to positions in state government.
Gov. Lincoln Chafee is scheduled to highlight his efforts to appoint more women to staff and cabinet positions at an event Monday at the Statehouse.
Joining the Democratic governor will be The Women's Fund of Rhode Island, a group dedicated to increasing the number women in politics. The organization will release a progress report on the number of women serving in appointed and elected offices.
Chafee more than doubled the number of women serving in high-level positions in state government during his first two years as governor. But a report last year showed that only 33 percent of board and commission appointments were held by women.
