SMITHFIELF, RI- It's too soon to tell if the Red Sox will win the American League Championship Series, but a local company is gearing up just in case.
Inside Cool Air Creations, located in Smithfield, the official ALCS design for if the Red Sox win the series is being kept from the public eye.
In two days, the Boston Red Sox could be declared the 2013 American League Champions.
During game 5, and up to games 6, or 7, a crew of 30 people will be on standby.
"We'll probably produce somewhere between 15 and 20–thousand on the first night. Depending on what's going on and how hot it really is, it could go for days," said owner, David Campbell.
If the Red Sox win, printing machines will immediately start printing 1,000 tees per hour. Shirts are picked up by retailers starting at 2 am.
Campbell says, "The next morning, the stores will be open with shirts on the shelves."
The last time this company had a major order for Red Sox gear was after the 2004 World Series.
Only about four New England contractors have MLB rights to make the series shirts; another reason for keeping the design a secret.
"There are plenty of little guys out there trying to make a quick buck. What makes it official is always going to be the World Series hologram."
If the Red Sox lose, no shirts will be created and no one outside these walls will ever see the design.
