Someone played a nasty Halloween "trick" on a Johnston family by destroying their elaborate Halloween display.

Vandals trashed the Halloween display on Bishop Hill causing over $500 of damage to the decorations.

The homeowner, David Marsella says the vandal ripped the cover off a coffin and stole several other decorations.

Marsella says his family takes pride in the displace and it is disappointing that someone did this.

"To see the expression on people's faces and the kids and the adults, it's great, you know?  So it's just a shame somebody goes and does this," said Marsella. In the 14-years he has lived in the home and decorated the yard he has never been vandalized.
