MDA's annual fundraiser of "filling the boot" is all wrapped up this year but firefighters in North Providence are filling one more boot, this time for one of their own.
Retired firefighter David Dilorio was diagnosed with ALS in May. It's one of the diseases he's been helping complete strangers fight for more than 20 years.
North Providence firefighters helped raise $20,000 dollars this year for the MDA by filling the boot. They hope to do the same for David and his family.
Firefighters will be out filling the boot for David Saturday from 10am at three different locations:
- North Providence – Headquarters 1951 Mineral Spring Ave
- Station 3 – Charles Street / Mineral Spring
- Smith Street/ Fruit Hill Avenue
Fellow firefighters from Johnston, Smithfield, Pawtucket and East Providence will also help out in collecting donations.
