A bike run in memory of the first Rhode Island female to fall in the Iraq war will kick off on Sunday.

The CPL Holly Charette Memorial Motorcycle Run will take off from the Rolf Street Post Office in Cranston. Charette, a high school cheerleader from Cranston, enlisted in the Marine Corps after the 9/11 terror attacks.

After training she was stationed in Falujah where she worked as a mail carrier. On June 23, 2005 her convoy was struck by a suicide bomber and she was killed.

Registration for the Memorial Bike ride will begin at 8:30 a.m. and kick stands will be up at 10:00 a.m.
