State Police from Across New England, with the exception of New Hampshire, and New York came to Barrington Rhode Island today to be trained in swiftwater rescue operations.
This is part of a four week basic dive school to certify new state police divers hosted by the Massachusetts State Police.
The drill was conducted in the Barrington River because the area has a strong current flowing into Narragansett Bay
The training is part of New England State Police Administrators Compact, which share resources and training programs throughout the area.
As part of the training new state troopers learned to mark underwater crimes scenes, search for evidence, and use sonar detection.
