Just minutes from choking to death, a woman's dog leaps into action. And what that dog does to save her life is nothing short of amazing. A Rhode Island company is also a big part of why she's here today.

It's hard not to see the chemistry between Candace Lines and her four dogs. Even talking about what they mean to her, brings her to tears. "They are all my children.... I had cancer and can't have kids so they are all my kids, " says Lines.

She doesn't have a favorite, but when it comes to her German Shepard Samantha their relationship is a little different. "We have a bond, " says Lines.

And that bond has grown into something much, much stronger after Samantha saved Candace's life. "I was eating a piece of chicken and all of a sudden it got stuck in my throat and I was gasping for air, " explains Lines.

Candace was home alone and losing consciousness. That's when Samantha leaped into action, pressing a button meant to scare off burglars. "I went like this and told her to help and she did, " says Lines.

When fire crews arrived at their Connecticut home, Candace was lying on the floor. "She had the phone by me too and she let the firemen take care of me while she sat here at watched everything, " says Lines.

Proving dogs are much more than just a man's best friend. "Thank god my dog saved my life because if she wasn't here I probably would have been dead, " admits Lines.

A Warwick company, Alliance Security, installed the emergency button for Candace.

When the button is pressed, the call goes to a dispatch center which then alerts emergency crews.
