Trainees at the Rhode Island Fire Academy are getting a nice gift from a local charity.
The Rhode Island Association of Fire Chiefs' Foundation is donating an aerial ladder truck to the Academy on Thursday.
The truck, a 1989 Maxim with a 109-foot aerial, was bought by the Foundation for over $6,000. It originally came from the Middletown Fire Department.
Now, thanks to the Foundation, the truck will be helping to educate trainees at the Academy in Exeter.
The Foundation is a public charity focused on educating and training the fire service as well as supporting local organizations and community members.
