TAUNTON, MA- Clothing bins in Taunton are for donated items but they've become personal dumps. Today, a few people wanted to see the trash for themselves.

"It's disgusting. Do you throw trash on your mother's kitchen floor?"

"They were originally in the front of the building and they got busted open and dragged back here and opened back here."

The informal dump has been behind an abandoned building located off Porter Street for weeks and it's attracting people inside, and out.

These donation bins say they only take toys, shoes and clothing but we found a mattress, empty plastic bottles and glass.

Roger Caramelo can see the garbage from his business across the street.

Caramelo said, "I've seen bottles with needles in 'em. You know people cross through here to go to the medical center and they could step on something and get hurt or you know, catch something."

Just a few blocks away, in the Grampy store parking lot sits another donation bin with yet another pile.

Taunton City Councilman, Daniel Barbour said, "Many of these companies just set up shop. They make a profit and people think they're donating for charity and they disappear and then all you see behind me is just liter."

Barbour says it's the property owner's responsibility to keep it clean.

Grampy's Store Owner, Alie Soufan said, "It looks terrible on my property."

Soufan says the bin owners clean the area once a week yet people keep bringing the trash back.

He said he would call the bin owners today to have it cleared.
