Detectives believe a missing man from Sandy Hook, Connecticut could be in Rhode Island.

Authorities have been investigating the disappearance of 50-year-old Robert Hoagland since late July.

That's when he was last seen at a gas station in Newtown, Connecticut.

Hoagland is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, and weighing175 pounds. He's bald and has blue eyes.

Just recently, a person who fits his description was spotted in the West Warwick area on route 117 near the interstate 95 exit.

A witness told officials the man was carrying a large backpack that would be uses to go camping and wearing a light–colored shirt.
