Ariel Castro, the man who held three women captive for nearly a decade in Ohio, has committed suicide.
That's according to a corrections official at an Ohio state prison facility.
Spokeswoman Joellen Smith says, 53–year–old Castro was found hanging in his cell after 9 Tuesday night. Medical staff at the center performed CPR, before Castro was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
The three women disappeared separately as teens and a young adult. They escaped in May. Castro was arrested at that same time. He was sentenced last month to life in prison, plus 1,000 years for pleading guilty to 937 counts, which included kidnapping and rape.
