A Connecticut man has been arrested as a suspect in the Westerly bank robbery earlier this week.
Westerly Police Detectives and Hopkinton Police identified Norman C. Renaldi, of Stonington, Connecticut, as a possible suspect shortly after the robbery. It happened right before 11:00 Tuesday morning at the Washington Trust Company branch in McQuade's Market on Main Street.
Witnesses were able to provide a rough description of the suspect, and say they did not see him carry a weapon. He got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Renaldi was arrested Friday, and is being held in Connecticut as a fugitive from justice and charged with bank robbery in Rhode Island.
