The Barrington father - and doctor - charged with buying alcohol for minors has pled no contest.

Bruce M. Becker appeared before 6th District Court Judge McCaffrey on Friday, August 23, after accusations that he hosted a drinking party for his underage son and his friends at his Barrington home.

Police say they found beer, vodka, and champagne after breaking up the July 30 house party.

Barrington Police Chief John M. LaCross issued the following statement in response to the case:

"Although Dr. Becker took responsibility for Hosting an Underage Drinking party at his residence on July 30th, it is still extremely disappointing that an adult, any adult would even  consider allowing minors to drink alcohol on his or her property in light of the devastating tragedies our town has faced over the recent years. His poor judgment is not a reflection of the many Barrington parents and community leaders who have worked tirelessly to keep our teens safe from alcohol use."
