NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) After 54 years the Newport Folk Festival shows no sign of slowing down.
The iconic music event kicked off again on Friday with performances from Feist, the Old Crow Medicine Show and a dozen other acts playing on four stages.
A drizzling rain prompted many fans to huddle under umbrellas but did little to dampen the music at historic Fort Adams overlooking Narragansett Bay.
Tickets for the Saturday and Sunday shows sold out five months ago the earliest tickets for the main two days of the festival have sold out in its history.
The festival has boasted a ``who's-who'' of musical stars since it was first held in 1959. It's known as the place where Bob Dylan went electric in 1965.
