The body of a 16-year-old boy who was washed off a sandbar in the waters off of Conimicut Point Park has been found.
Crews have searched the waters for the teen since Sunday evening.
The boy was walking with another teenager on the sandbar around 5 p.m. when a strong current came and swept him into the ocean. A Kayaker was able to rescue one of the teens however, Crews continue to search for the other.
Conimicut Point Park was closed on Monday as the search was underway.
In 2008 a 14-year-old girl was swept away by a strong current while walking on a sandbar with her family at Conimicut Point. Tiffany Martinez was rescued but later succumbed to her injuries.
