South County (20)

 

Atlantic Beach Park (Westerly)- Alcohol and smoking prohibited, child friendly, food and restroom available. Tourist Spot.

Blue Shutters Town Beach (Charlestown)- Alcohol, smoking and pets prohibited, food/snack bar, handicap accessible.

Briar Point Beach (Coventry)- Smoking prohibited. Freshwater swimming.

Burlingame State Park and Campground (Charlestown)- Alcohol prohibited, pets allowed, restrooms available, handicap accessible, child friendly. Picnic table and pavilion renting, freshwater swimming and fishing.

Captain Roger Wheeler State Beach/Sand Hill Cove (Narragansett)- Smoking and pets prohibited, restrooms and food available, handicap accessible.

Charlestown Breachway State Beach and Campground (Charlestown)- Alcohol and pets prohibited, restrooms available.

Napatree Point (Westerly)- Spot for hikers and bird watchers, free admission.

Narragansett Town Beach (Narragansett)- Alcohol, smoking, and pets prohibited, handicap accessible.

Ninigret Park (Charlestown)- Alcohol prohibited, pets allowed, restroom available, child friendly, handicap accessible. Free admission. Freshwater fishing.

North Kingstown Town Beach (North Kingstown)- Smoking and pets prohibited.

Quonochontaug Beach (Charlestown)- Public during the off-season.

Salty Brine State Beach (Narragansett)-Smoking and pets prohibited, restroom available. No undertow.

Scarborough Beach (Narragansett)- Alcohol, smoking and pets prohibited.

South Kingstown Town Beach at Matunuck (South Kingstown)- Alcohol, smoking and pets prohibited. Restroom and snack bar available. Groups require reservation. Picnic area rental.

Watch Hill Beach (Westerly)- Restroom and snack bar available.

Westerly Town Beach (Westerly)- Alcohol prohibited, restroom and snack bar available.

Atlantic Beach (Middletown)- Smoking and pets prohibited, restroom available. Free admission.

Easton's Beach (Newport)- Alcohol and pets prohibited, restroom and snack bar available, child friendly, handicap accessible. Loads of activities and attractions, tourist spot.

Fogland Beach/Tiverton Town Beach (Tiverton)- Alcohol prohibited, pets allowed, restroom available, child friendly. Popular for windsurfers.

Fort Adams State Park (Newport)- Alcohol prohibited, pets allowed, restroom available. Summer concerts and festivals.

Goosewing Beach (Little Compton)- Alcohol and pets prohibited, restroom available (located at South Shore Beach). No direct access, parking at South Shore Beach.

Grinnell's Beach (Tiverton)- Restroom available. Family oriented.

Heads Beach (Jamestown)- Free admission. Jamestown residents only. 

Island Park Beach (Portsmouth)- Free admission. Street parking only. No facilities.

King Park (Newport)- Alcohol prohibited, restroom available, handicap accessible. Pets allowed on leashes only. Free admission.

Mackerel Cove/Jamestown Town Beach (Jamestown)- Alcohol and pets prohibited, restroom available. Daily parking pass $15 dollars. Free admission with resident sticker.

Sandy Point Beach (Portsmouth)- Pets prohibited, restroom and snack bar available, handicap accessible.

Second Beach/Sachuest Town Beach (Middletown)- Alcohol prohibited, restrooms and snack bar available, handicap accessible.

South Shore Beach (Little Compton)- Alcohol and pets prohibited, restroom available.

Teddy's Beach (Portsmouth)- Free admission. No lifeguards or facilities.

Third Beach (Middletown)- Alcohol prohibited. Semi-private beaches throughout the stretch. Family oriented.

 

Blackstone Valley and Northern Rhode Island (7)

 

Casimir Pulaski Memorial Recreational Area (Glocester)- Freshwater swimming, family oriented. Hiking spot.

George Washington Management Area (Glocester)- Alcohol and pets prohibited. Lots of outdoor activities. Limited to two weeks of camping at a time.

Georgiaville Pond (Smithfield)- Freshwater swimming, sticker required to park.

Governor Notte Park (North Providence)- Freshwater swimming.

Lincoln Woods State Park (Lincoln)- Alcohol and smoking prohibited, pets allowed, restrooms and snack bar available, child friendly.

Spring Lake Beach Facility (Burrillville)- Alcohol prohibited, shopping, restrooms and snack bar available, handicap accessible, child friendly. Open arcade and other activities.

World War II Memorial State Park (Woonsocket)- Alcohol prohibited, restroom available, handicap accessible, child friendly. Freshwater swimming.

 

 Warwick and West Bay (6)

 

Goddard Memorial State Park (Warwick)- Alcohol prohibited, pets allowed, restrooms available. Free admission, extremely spacious and ideal for group events. Tons of different activities (including golf and game fields).

Gorton Pond (Warwick)- Freshwater swimming.

Little Pond (Warwick)- Freshwater swimming.

Oakland Beach (Warwick)- Restrooms available, handicap accessible. Free admission. Restaurants nearby.

Warwick City Park/Buttonwoods Beach (Warwick)- Alcohol prohibited, restroom accessible, handicap available. Free admission. Hiking, biking and jogging trails.

Warwick Pond/Buckeye Brook (Warwick)- Freshwater swimming, roadside parking.

 

Block Island (4)

 

Charlestown Beach (New Shoreham)- Popular for fishermen, no facilities.

Fred Benson Town Beach (New Shoreham)- Alcohol, smoking and pets prohibited, snack bar available, handicap accessible. Rentals available.

Mansion Beach (New Shoreham)- Free admission, limited parking.

North Light Commission (New Shoreham)- Handicap accessible, family oriented.

 

East Bay (4)

 

Barrington Town Beach (Barrington)- Smoking and pets prohibited, restrooms available. Parking available to Barrington residents only.

Bristol Town Beach (Bristol)- Alcohol and pets prohibited, restrooms and snack bar available, child friendly. Many sport fields, skateboard park, fitness trail.

Union Street Beach (Bristol)- Alcohol prohibited. Free admission.

Warren Town Beach (Warren)- Restrooms and snack bar available. Free to Warren residents.

 

Parking

Prices for State Beach parking has risen this year. Rhode Island residents are now paying $10 versus $6 to park on weekdays, and $14 rather than $10 to park on weekends and holidays. Seasonal passes have also gone up from $30 to $60. Living out of state and looking to go to a Rhode Island beach? The prices will jump from $10 to $20 on weekdays and $20 to $28 on weekends and holidays. Seasonal passes will rise to $120 instead of the original $60.

 

Beach Closings

The Rhode Island Department of Health closely monitors beaches throughout the season, and will close them if the bacteria count is too high in the water. Check online for beach closings prior to visiting. Contact the Department of Health for immediate concerns at (401) 222-2751.
