Three children and seven pitbulls were found living inside a Cranston home that was so filthy, police say they had to wear masks to keep from gagging.
On Monday, Cranston Police performed a drug raid at a home on Preston Drive in Cranston. They say when they walked inside, they found deplorable conditions – feces and trash covering the floors of every room.
In the middle of it all: three children ages nine, two and two months old. Police also found seven sick pit bulls. The mother of the children, Arcangela Calamita, 26, was arrested as well as her boyfriend Renick Johnson, 27.
"Disgusted, horrified," says Teresa Gervais who lives a few doors down from the home. "Our [six-year-old] daughter had even gone in there before and she never even said anything to us about the environment."
Police say the two were manufacturing and selling crack cocaine out of the home. Both are being held without bond on drug, child abuse and animal abuse charges. The children have been taken to stay with family.
