PAWTUCKET, RI - For the second time in his high school career, Smithfield's Matt Kuhar is the state singles tennis champ.
His day did not begin as expected. Having just defeated Barrington's Cam Voight earlier in the week, Kuhar dropped the first set 7-5. He rallied back to win the next two, 6-1, 6-4.
His classmates of Sam Miller and Adam Courtemancher, who were undefeated, had the reverse luck. They won the first set 6-1 over South Kingstown's Sheamus O'Rourkeand Jack Blessing, but lost the next two 6-2, 6-4.
The win marks the 6th straight years the Rebels won the doubles title.
