The Department of Environmental Protection has found that, according to recent test results wind turbines in Fairhaven are too loud.
The Department of Environmental Protection told the Board of Health that the turbines exceeded state noise regulations five times during the 24 hour period they were tested. The regulation is set at .7 decibels but DEP says the turbines were blowing at 1.5 decibels.
The turbines have been the center of controversy with some residents voicing their concerns from noise complaints to health concerns.
Now, based on the new findings opponents want the turbines shut down immediately.
The Board of Health has note yet issued a decision on the matter and the developer says they will challenge the results.
