VERNON, Conn. (AP) _ Vernon police have arrested a local man for his alleged involvement in the assault of a Brown University basketball player hospitalized with severe head injuries.

Police said Tuesday they arrested Tory Lussier at his home. Providence, R.I., police hold a felony arrest warrant for the 25-year-old Lussier.

He was being held at the Vernon Police Department as a fugitive from justice on the Rhode Island warrant and is to appear Thursday in Rockville Superior Court for arraignment and extradition proceedings.

It wasn't known if he's represented by a lawyer.

A spokesman for Rhode Island Hospital said Wednesday that 21-year-old Joseph Sharkey of Norwood, Mass., remains in critical condition.

Police say a man hit Sharkey in the head on Sunday morning as he spoke with a group of women. Authorities say an altercation took place shortly before.
