A Connecticut man accused of kidnapping and murdering a woman then dumping her body on a road in Middletown pleaded guilty this morning in Superior Court.

26-year-old Zachary Lapelusa was sentenced to life in prison for first degree murder and a consecutive 20-year sentence for kidnapping.

Lapelusa abducted Vendetti Bruce at knife point in the parking lot of the Marriott Residence Inn in Middletown. Lapelusa forced Bruce into the back seat of her own vehicle then drove to a Midas Muffler Shop where he parked and stabbed Bruce to death.

He then drove to Hanging Rocks Road where he dumped the body in a ditch.

Lapelusa was later located in the parking lot of Third Beach when a detective noticed he matched an eyewitness description of the suspect. After a high speed chase and a foot chase Lapelusa was apprehended.
