Police scoured a Narragansett neighborhood for hours Tuesday, after blocking off part of Caswell Street with caution tape. Neighbors watched on in a state of confusion as State Police K–9 units searched the woods next to an apartment complex.
After more than 10 hours of investigating, police left without saying a word. Late this afternoon, they would only confirm that there was a preliminary investigation and that all units were responding.
Sources tell ABC6 that a Allison Taylor's body was found dismembered in a dumpster near Caswell Street. Neighbors tell ABC 6 Taylor is in her 60s and lived in the apartment complex.
"Someone came up to me and told me Allison Taylor's body was found," an onlooker said. "She lives next door to the person I take care of, she's been missing since yesterday."
Shortly after the discovery, neighbors say they saw police taser a man in front of the complex. Some say he was carrying a knife at the time.
Sources tell ABC6 that man was Taylor's son. They say he remained under suicide watch at Rhode Island hospital, while K-9's searched the woods next to his mothers apartment. The Medical Examiner's office was also on scene.
Investigators loaded up bags of evidence and towed away the dumpster where sources say the body was found.
The community's confusion was soon replaced by neighbors coming to their own conclusions about what happened to Allison Taylor.
Police say they will release more information Wednesday morning.
