A 47-year-old was killed on his boat in Taunton on Sunday evening.
Around 5:45 p.m. 46-year-old Anthony Rose was operating a boat at a high rate of speed on the Taunton River near the border of Taunton and Berkley when he struck a tree protruding from the water. The Environmental Police along with the Taunton Police Department and the State Police responded to the scene.
The passenger on the boat, identified as Manuel Pinheiro,47, was struck in the head during the crash.
Rose drove his boat ashore near East Water Street in Taunton where he was met by emergency personnel and police.
Pinheiro was immediately transferred to Morton Hospital where he died from his injuries. Rose was arrested by the Environmental Police and charged with operating the boat operating under the influence and negligent operation of a boat.
He was arraigned in Taunton District Court Monday morning and held on $10,000 cash bail. His next court date is June 5.
