Katherine Russell was escorted out of her lawyers office in Providence late Monday. Russell, the 24-year-old wife of suspect number one in the Boston bombings had no comment for reporters. Before they left her mother briefly touched upon the whirl-wind she and her family are going through saying "no comment" and "we're doing our best."
In the days since she was linked to the bombing suspects Russell has been keeping a low profile. She has been staying at her parents North Kingstown home, but now the investigation has come to her front door. The FBI was seen carrying bags of evidence from the house just hours before. According to published reports investigators also took a DNA sample from Russell.
The Wall Street Journal reports that investigators found female DNA on at least one of the bombs used in the attacks, though they haven't determined whose DNA it is. There could be several explanations for the DNA including it belonging to a spectator, the clerk who sold the materials, or a female accomplice.
Russell's attorneys maintain she did not know of the bombing plot, and say she is cooperating with investigators.
