People on Prudence Island might be marooned as of December.
Bruce Medley, the Bristol ferry president sent out a letter to officials saying he will end services as of December 1.
Local lawmakers are now working with town officials to formulate a plan to put another Ferry service in place. A bill introduced in the Senate by Republican Christopher Ottiano and in the House by Democrat Ray Gallison forms a Prudence Island Ferry Authority which would consist of people from Prudence Island, Portsmouth mainland, and Bristol. The Authority would be charged with either outsourcing the ferry service out or establishing their own ferry service.
There are 101 registered voters on Prudence Island year-round but Ottiano said in the summer the island can see up to 2,000 visitors.
