A judge has officially approved a loan from the Coventry Town Council to the financially struggling Central Coventry Fire District.

The town will give $150,000 to the fire district on Friday to keep the stations door open until April 26. The town can loan the department up to $300,000 over the next few weeks to keep the station in operation. If the fire district does not show progress the town has the option to halt any further loan money.

The fire district will pay back the loan without interest with the fire district's 2013 tax revenues.

If the district is unable to pay back the loan Centerville Bank has agreed to give the town first priority on a lender's list if the department is liquidated.
