A man was arraigned on charges this morning for allegedly making threats to a 6-year-old at an East Providence daycare.
39-year-old Brian Cannon is accused of whispering a threat in the ear of child at the Sacred Heart Day Care Center on March 20.
It's alleged that Cannon approached a boy that was bullying his daughter and said "stop picking on my daughter or I will punch your teeth out. I am not joking."
Staff at the facility said the boy turned white as a ghost and told them he was threatened by Cannon.
"It wasn't in a fashion where I literally looked at him and said like I'm going to get you type of situation ..it was all in fun," said Cannon. "It was no ill–will or ill intent to hurt another child it was more or less just to reassure that if there was anything that would ever happen I would always protect her."
Cannon said his daughter Savannah was getting bullied by the boy at her after school daycare program and would often come home crying.
While staff members at the daycare say they never witnessed any incidents between the two kids Cannon disagrees. "There were times when I mentioned certain things to staff members and nothing was done about it."
Police issued a warrant for Cannon's arrest after interviewing the child. Cannon turned himself in and pleaded not guilty to charges of Disorderly Conduct this morning in Providence District Court.
He was ordered to have no contact with either the child or the school.
