Man dead after Providence stabbing, suspect in custody

A man is dead after a stabbing in Providence on Dorrance Street Tuesday evening.

18-year-old Diamond Wilson Wooten has been arrested and charged with murder after stabbing a man around 9:30 p.m on Tuesday. Wooten was found by police with minor stab wounds to his side and back. He at the intersection of Dorrance and West Minster Street.

According to police, 18-year-old Charlie Otero was stabbed in front of McCormick & Schmick's Restaurant. Otero managed to stagger into the restaurant and ask for help before collapsing. He described the assailant to the police and identified him as Diamond. Otero was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police say the stabbing was part of an ongoing disagreement between the two who ran into each other at Kennedy Plaza.

This marks the second murder in the capital city this year.
