A man who barricaded himself inside a New Bedford apartment and fired several rounds at police on Thursday was arraigned in New Bedford District Court.

John Hernandez, 30 of New Bedford was charged with larceny of a firearm, carrying a gun without a license, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a residence, assault with intent to murder using a firearm, and breaking and entering.

Police say when they took Hernandez into custody after an over four hour stand off he admitted to trying to commit suicide by cop.
