Actor Alec Baldwin has given the Central Fall's High School Chess team $2,500 dollar to help the team go to their national tournament in Tennessee from April 4-7.
This is not Alec Baldwin's first donation to help Central Falls. In the past he wrote a $10,000 check to the Adams Memorial Library to help it keep its door open.
The team needs to raise $8,000 to make it the tournament. On Wednesday evening Mayor James Diossa is hosting a fundraiser for the team from 5 to 7 pm at Taco Mix restaurant to help raise the additional funds.
The Central Falls chess team is no stranger to the national tournament. The team has made it to nationals six times each time scoring as one of the top ten teams in the country.
