Congressman Jim Langevin will travel to the Vatican
next week to attend the investiture of Pope Francis I.
"I'm honored to have the chance to experience this
extraordinary occasion," said Langevin. "This incredible tradition is a
personally moving event for me as a Catholic and attending with the delegation
provides a unique opportunity to recognize firsthand the potential of the Pope
to do enormous good in our world. I hope that with the selection of the first
non-European Pope of the modern era, we will also be welcoming an era of more
inclusiveness by the Church as it continues to touch people across the world
with the love and support that helps inspire my strong connection to my faith."
This is the second time that Langevin has attended the inauguration
of the Pope. He also attended Pope Beendict's inauguration in 2005.
