PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Police are searching for a man suspected of robbing a Providence laundromat, armed with a large kitchen knife.
Police say around 2:45 a.m. Saturday morning, a short, heavyset man dressed in all black walked into the Laundromax at 930 Atwells Ave, brandished a large knife and ordered everyone to the ground.

The robber was somehow able to open two safes located in the back room and pocketed $1200, according to police.
The robber then fled the laundromat with the cash. Fortunately, no one was injured during the robbery.
Police are describing the man as being about 5'3'', heavyset, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black sweat pants, and black sneakers.
