PROVIDENCE, R.I. - A man has been treated and released from Rhode Island Hospital after being stabbed in the lower back after leaving a Providence club early Sunday morning.
Police say the victim could not identify his assailants, and that the stabbing appears to be a "random act of violence".
The stabbing happened around 3:40 a.m., after the victim left PVD Social Club. Police say an unknown number of attackers followed him to the corner of Richmond and Friendship Street and stabbed him in the back, leaving the man with non-life threatening injuries.
The victim was treated and released at Rhode Island Hospital.
Police say there were no witnesses, but that the violence did not take place at the social club.
