JOHNSTON, R.I. - Fire officials do not yet know what caused a housefire on South Olney Street in Johnston, but they say no one was injured during the blaze.
Asst. Chief David Savastano told ABC6 News that they were called to 12 South Olney Street for the report of a housefire. When firefighters arrived, they saw the kitchen area engulfed in smoke and flames.
Fire officials say the home was unoccupied at the time, and that it took 15-20 minutes for them to put out the fire.
Savastano said the police department and the state fire Marshall are also conducting a routine investigation.
So far, there is no word from fire officials on if the fire is suspicious.
